December 18, 2008 meeting

The Session met on Thursday, December 18, 2008 with ten members present and Lay Pastor, Henry Distler. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order by Henry at 7:07 P.M. with several Christmas facts followed with prayer. He also provided Christmas baked goods for an evening snack.

CLERK’S REPORT:

Received a request to elect a Commissioner and an Alternate Commissioner to Lehigh Presbytery.

Announced that Winterfest for our area will be on February 21, 2009 at the Slatington Church.

CORRESPONDENCE:

Received thank you letters from the 6th Street Shelter for the Mittens, Gloves, Hats and Scarves.

St. Stephens Church (Whitehall Food Bank) for our Harvest Home collection of non-perishable food supplies.

The Presbytery apportionment for each church member is $21.91 for 2009.

PASTOR’S REPORT:

Henry notified Session of the following concerns:

Baptism requests —
Mr. & Mrs. Michael Longernderfer for daughter Anna Elizabeth
Mr. & Mrs. Chad Cerrone for daughter Madison Alaine

An expression of appreciation was extended to Donna Fink for serving Christ's Church
as an Elder.

Thanked the Session for renewing his contract with a salary increase...

Next Session Meeting is January 15, 2009.

MINUTES of November 20 and Congregational Meeting of December 23, 2008, were
approved as distributed.

FINANCIAL REPORT for November 2008 were received and reviewed. Reports
were filed for Audit.

MINISTRY REPORTS:

Worship and Music -
The Choir will sing a Christmas Cantata and the Children's Christmas Program
will be on December 21, 2008.

Kim Bydlon will be the soloist for December 28th Worship Service.

Youth Ministry -
Sandy and Carl Moran requested permission to take the Youth Group to a movie.

Presbyterian Women -
The annual Christmas dinner was at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 6th at the
Terrace Restaurant in Walnutport.

Deacons -
Did a great job decorating for the Holidays.

Turning Point -
The Gifts for children in need were distributed by Donna Pontician.

Nursery School -
Eileen announced that a meeting is scheduled for January.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Communication -

Tammy reported the replacement bulletin board has been received and will be
hung after the Holidays.

The newspaper ads were placed advertising the Holiday Worship Services.

Fellowship and Group Life -

The Epiphany Dinner is on January 4, 2009, sign up sheet is in the hall outside the big Sunday School room.

The soup supper in January was postponed until a later date.

A Game night will be scheduled for January or February.

Personnel -

Committee will meet with Henry after the Holidays.

Property -

Sue will purchase a computer for the office.

Old Business -

The Congregational Meeting is scheduled for January 25, 2009.
January 18, 2009 is the Installation of New Officers.

New Business -

The elected Commissioners to Lehigh Presbytery are Barbara Quigg, Commissioner and Joyce Wheeler, Alternate.

It was suggested that a work party be formed to repair damaged Christmas Tree Ornaments and make new ones.
