Session
January 15, 2009 meeting
The Session met on Thursday, December 18, 2008 with nine members present and Lay Pastor, Henry Distler. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order by Henry at 7:04 P.M. with prayer.
CLERK’S REPORT:
Reported that on several occasions lights are being left on in the church. In this time of economic crises that any one who uses the church take the responsibility of seeing that all doors are locked and lights turned off.
On January 11th we had two baptisms - Anna Elizabeth Longenderfer and Madison Alaine Cerrone.
Barbara Quigg was elected as Commissioner to Lehigh Presbytery and Joyce Wheeler will serve as Alternate.
CORRESPONDENCE:
It was unanimously passed that County of Lehigh be granted permission to use the church facility for two upcoming elections – May 19 and Nov. 3rd.and November 3rd, 2009.
Letters from Presbyterian Lay Committee – copies distributed to Session Members.- no action.
Brochure requesting support for Theological Education Fund – no action
Received the 2009 Minimum Terms of Call from Lehigh Presbytery – copied to each Session Member.
Flyer from the Synod of the Trinity advertising a 2009 Summer Conference at Wilson College June 10-12, 2009 Camp Fee $175 Commuter Fee $75

MINUTES for December 18, 2008 were approved as distributed.
FINANCIAL REPORT for December 2008 was received and reviewed. Reports were filed for audit.
MINISTRY REPORTS:
Worship and Music -
The Christmas Cantata was rescheduled for January 11th and was well received.
Because of weather conditions Sunday school was canceled for two Sundays in January.
The children will help to contribute non-perishables for the ongoing food drive.
Youth Ministry -
Will be selling soup on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1, 2009.
Presbyterian Women -
No report.
Deacons -
No report.
Turning Point -
Remember to save those old cell phones and ink cartridges.
Nursery School -
Has suffered heat problems as a result of the boiler problem.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Communication -
Mary Ann Ramey reported the replacement bulletin board has been received and
will be hung a/s/a/p.
Fellowship and Group Life -
The Epiphany Dinner on January 4, 2009 was attended by 16 people and was enjoyed by all.
The soup supper has been canceled.
A Game night will be scheduled for February.
Personnel -
Committee will meet with Henry in January.
Property -
Sue will purchase a computer for the office after the Congregational Meeting.
Someone turned the water valves off on the boiler and caused a repair bill of $891.00 and until it’s completely repaired it may cost even more. It is so important that whoever is in charge of groups using the church facilities that all stoves, lights and rooms be checked before leaving the premises.
The 9 Fire Extinguishers were replaced.
Pastoral Nominating Committee -
Jack Wall reported that the PNC Committee has contacted an interested candidate and will speak to the congregation at the Congregational Meeting on January 25th. It’s very important that all members be present.
Safety Committee -
The 1st. reading of policies and procedures was tabled until February.
Old Business -
The question was raised if any thought had been given to hiring a maintenance person? It was stated that there are no funds available to do so at this time.
New Business -
Nothing to report.
It was also suggested that we continue to gather non-perishable foods for the Whitehall Food Bank to be delivered at various times throughout the year.
