March 15, 2007 meeting
The Session
met on March 15, 2007 with nine members present, our Moderator, The
Rev. Dr. Charles Colson, and Commissioned Interim Lay Pastor, Henry
Distler. The meeting was called to order by Commissioned Interim Lay
Pastor, Henry Distler at 7:10 P.M. with devotions taken from Matthew
the 17th chapter and followed with prayer... The business meeting was
called to order by Henry Distler and the regular order of business began
with the approval of the minutes and the financial reports

PASTOR'S
REPORT:
Announced
that the CHES meeting is scheduled for April 15, 2007 at 5:30 at the
UPC of Slatington
Pulpit
Exchange is on April 29, 2007- Henry will travel to Emmaus and Doug
Cronce will come to Hokendauqua.
Look for
information for the first CHES picnic sometime in May or June. Sally
Heffner, Alice and Jack Wall will represent our church on the picnic
planning committee.
If you
received a Sermon evaluation form in your Sunday bulletin please return
it to him promptly.

to baptize his grandson Tobias Lee Koch on April 15, 2007

- morning breakfast 8- 9:30 and No Communion at regular Worship
One of Henry's
goals this year is to make our congregation more mission minded and he
came up with several suggestions to get us started. Any action on this
suggestion is tabled until our April meeting.
MEMBERSHIP:
Sue Butchinski,
Donna Fink and Barbara Quigg reviewed the membership roll for inactivity
for two years or longer in worship attendance, receiving communion and
financial support and requested to do the following; Move 8 members
from Inactive to Active, Move 20 members from Active to Inactive and
Dismiss those who have been Inactive since 2005 or longer.
MINISTRY
REPORTS:
Worship
and Music - We had a blue grass service on March 11th.and as always
it was well received. Chime Choir will be playing on Palm Sunday and
Tammy Seidick our Flutist on Easter.
Christian
Education - There is a deep concern for the great decline in our Sunday
school enrollment especially in the Pre-School/ Kindergarten Classes.
VBS will be held in June under the leadership of Debbie Snyder. The
date is forth coming.
Presbyterian
Women - The Association Meeting was held on March 6th with devotions
centered around Holy Week. Plans are coming together for an Ice Cream
Social in August.
Deacons
- Elected Carol Steigerwalt, Moderator; Ann Tremblay, Secretary; and
David Linton, Treasurer. They are in the process of preparing a list
of Shut-Ins with up-dated addresses and phone numbers as well as contacting
them with personal visits and cards. Forms for purchasing Easter flowers
are ready for pick up in the back of the Church Sanctuary. A new arrangement
of silk flowers will be purchased and placed in church on those Sundays
that are not covered by the church flower calendar.
Turning
Point - Don't forget to drop your old unused cell phones in the basket
in the hall.
COMMITTEE
REPORTS
Communication
- Tammy Seidick has updated the Web-Site Kathy Jernegan, MaryAnn Ramey
and Tammy Seidick met to discuss how to improve the Newsletter and keep
each member of the congregation well informed of church news and upcoming
events. If you have some free time and would like to help the church
secretary get the newsletter out on time, please volunteer to assist
her with the folding and copying. Suggested that a wish list be prepared.
Fellowship/Group
Life - March 17th at 5:30 Game Night Don't forget the Easter Breakfast
from 8 - 9:30 on Easter morning.
Personnel
- Donna Fink, Rich Haberern and Eileen Tremblay completed the employee
Job Descriptions and performed the annual reviews for each hired employee.
Dan Shedler was hired to be our Lawn Maintenance Man.
Nominating
- Sue Hoke has agreed to fill the vacancy on the Board of Deacons. A
congregational meeting has been called for April 1st immediately after
morning worship to place her in nomination and elect her to this position.
Her ordination is scheduled for a later date in April.
Property
- A broken window in the garage needs to be replaced.
Gifts
of the Heart - A stewardship letter will be sent to each member of the
congregation.
Pastoral
Nominating Committee - The C.I.F. form has been forwarded to the Committee
on Ministry in the Presbytery and we are waiting for a reply before
we take the next step.
The next
meeting of Session will be on Thursday, April 19, 2007
