Minute Hi-Lites
April 24, 2008 meeting
The Session met on April 24, 2008 with ten members present, and Commissioned Lay Pastor, Henry Distler. The Meeting was called to order by Henry at 7:04 P.M. The devotions for the evening centered around the roll of an ordained elder in obedience to Jesus Christ under the authority of Scripture and guided by the Confessions.
CLERK'S
REPORT:
Attended the Stated meeting of Presbytery on April 22, 2008 along with Joyce Wheeler and Pastor Henry Distler.
The 2007 audit of the church financial records was completed on April 8, 2008 by the appointed auditors, John Faisetty and Tom Heffner.
The Reading of the Session Minutes is on May 9, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church of Allentown.
June 8th Gary Millspaugh from the Allentown Rescue Mission will speak during a Minute for Mission during morning worship.
On April 20th the CHES churches met and Sue Butchinski, Sally Heffner and Donna Fink served a delicious meal and Tom Heffner volunteered to wash dishes.
An expression of thanks for hosting this meeting to Sue and her crew.
The exterminator company, Ehrlich sprayed for Bug/Insect pests.
The Internet for the Pastor’s Office needs to be hooked up.
Thanks to Sandy Moran for organizing a clean up crew to clean the church grounds.
Check the sign up sheet and if you haven’t already signed up for nursery care during morning worship. Please volunteer and do so.
Confirmation Sunday is May 18th
New Members were received on March 27th during morning worship and they are Valarie Mack, Walter Hertzog, Jr., and Louiseann Hein.
Presbyterian Women’s Gathering was held on April 18, 2008 with a theme of “Mission Connection” There were 29 in attendance representing 7 churches.
Henry Distler led worship which included the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
There is a Congregational Meeting on May 11th for the purpose of electing two people from the congregation at large to serve on the Nominating Committee.
PASTOR'S
REPORT:
Distributed copies of his activity reports for March 27, to April 26, 2008 which
included: Time schedule for hours worked and mileage, suggested upcoming mission projects, and worship services
Keep those evaluation forms coming.

Incoming –
Thank you note was received from J. Wilson Enterprises, Inc. for contracting them to repair the church roof.
MINUTES of April 3, 2008 were received as written with one minor correction.
FINANCIAL REPORT was received and reviewed. Report was filed for Audit. NOTE: Per Capita for 2008 is $21.00 per member.

REPORTS
Worship
and Music -
One boy and two girls will be confirmed on May 18th. It was suggested that we get a TV and up date the sound system for the Chapel to accommodate all those who find it difficult to climb the stairs to the sanctuary.
Christian
Education -
There is a drastic decline in attendance.
Confirmation -
Three young people will be confirmed on May 18th during Morning Worship, they are Jarred Shuey, Amber Schray and Emily Hoke.
Presbyterian
Women -
The Ice Cream/Basket Social is scheduled for July 19, 2008. Start thinking about supporting us with donations of baskets and sacrifices of time to help when and wherever you can.
Spring Gathering was held on April 18, 2008 @ Hokendauqua. It was a beautiful day filled with joy, laughter, good food, fellowship and worship. Pastor Distler led worship which included Holy Communion.

Fellowship/Group
Life -
The Bar-B-Q/Blue Grass Social will be held on June 21st – mark your Calendars.
The proceeds will go to the Roof Fund so we need your help to support this worthy cause.
Nominating
-
Two members from the congregation at large need to be elected to the Nominating Committee at our next congregational meeting on May 11th.
Property
-
The roof has been completed and now we need to raise funds to pay the bill. A fundraiser has been started to put your name on a slate at a cost of $25 per name.
Thanks to Doug Sammak for his time and talents for the speedy way in which he
arranged to have the church roof repaired.
Work parties will be needed to paint the white slanted plates on the exterior of the building and to finish cleaning up the church yard.
Pastoral
Nominating Committee -
At present we have 5 candidates who are being considered to fill the vacancy... we are awaiting the Presbyteries C. O. M. Committee to complete reference checks.
The next meeting – May 15 2008.
