Session Minute Hi-Lites
June 21, 2007 meeting

The Session of the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua met on Thursday evening June 21, 2007. A Quorum was present. The meeting was called to order by Commissioned Lay Pastor, Henry Distler. He read from Ecclesiastes 3 the first 3 verses, and led us in a short devotion and officially opened the meeting with prayer.

The minutes were approved as presented with one correction and the Treasurer's Report was reviewed and filed for Audit.

Distributed flyers regarding the upgrading and new addition to Westminster Village.

Approval of Amy Steigerwalt's request for transfer to Allentown First Presbyterian Church.

Voted to transfer 5 members from the Inactive Roll to the Active Roll of membership per their request.

Flyers received from Allentown 1st. Presbyterian Church informing us of two invitations: Ice Cream Social on July 15th at 6:00 P.M. for a chance to meet Debra and Delvin Branksma, Missionaries on leave. Pot Luck Dinner on October 6th to meet Rev. William Soldwisch for the Mission Challenge of 2007. He will be with Lehigh Presbytery from Oct. 2 to Oct. 6 and will be available to visit with congregations who are willing to host him.

Flyer advertising "A Celebration of Grace" on Oct. 2-6 in Louisville, Kentucky..

Letter was received from The Allentown Rescue Mission requesting permission for Gary Millspaugh and Rev. Michael Comick to share in one of our Worship Services sometime between Labor Day and the end of the year. Session approved and will set a date for their visit.

A very detailed report was received from Pastor Distler which included the date, time worked and mileage from May 14 to June 17.

Pulpit exchange of Choir and Pastor is scheduled for September 30th. Rev. Zimmerman will be in Hokendauqua and Henry Distler in Slatington.

CHES picnic was cancelled due to conflicting dates and so we will try again next year.

Henry needs those completed evaluation forms that you may have the privilege of finding in your bulletin on a Sunday morning. Return them to the church office PLEASE.

Two weeks vacation from July 9 to 22, 2007 was approved for Pastor Distler.

We certainly are a loving congregation and have received $604 in our Pentecost Offering

June 24th we will have Ruth Young, Rachel Osborn and Wanda Paulhamus as guest speakers in morning worship.

July 1st. Holy communion, July 15- Rev. John Stoner and July 22- Elder Rich Haberern, September 16 the Choir and Pastor Distler will travel to Westminster Village for an afternoon church service, September 30 is the Pulpit Exchange and

October 21 is the CHES meeting at Catasauqua.

Henry will be on study leave November 12 - 19, 2007 in Richmond, Va.

Don't forget Sunday School will begin the Sunday after Labor Day. As always, we need people to step up to the plate and volunteer to teach and become more involved in our Christian Education Program.

Confirmands were received on Sunday, May 20th.

B. Quigg gave a verbal report on her trip to the Synod PW Gathering in Louisville, Ky.

The Gathering was exciting and spiritually uplifting full of opportunities to expand your Horizons and share in fellowship, prayer and Bible Study with your sisters of the Faith.

Deacons reported that they received substantial memorial gifts for David Hause III.

Turning point is collecting your old cartridges and there is a drop off basket for them in the vestibule.

Tammy Seidick is doing a great job with placing ADS for our church in local newspapers. Thanks Tammy for a great job.

Several terms of office will expire this year and the NOMINATING Committee is looking for volunteers to fill the Vacancies. If you receive a call and feel this is what you can do to help, then don't hesitate, say YES.

The Pastoral Nominating Committee is in the process of once again placing our CIF on line and awaiting to hear from candidates.

Have a good Summer and Session will resume it's meetings on September 20, 2007.
