Session
June 18, 2009 meeting

The Session met on Thursday, June 18, 2009 with eight members present and Moderator, Rev. Joyce W. Smothers in the social room of the church. A quorum was present. Pastor Joyce opened the meeting reading from Ecclesiastes 3: 2-8 with open discussion about a time for everything according to God’s spiritual leadership followed with prayer.

Letter of Thanks from Bob Nickels, Stated Clerk, thanking our cheerful, friendly and hard-working congregation for hosting the Presbytery meeting on April 28.
Reminder Westminster needs your support with Auxiliary membership and The Giving For Living Program.


PASTOR’S REPORT:

Distributed a written report of her activities from May 21 – June 18, 2009 which included:

Preached and led worship services

Participated in the Memorial Day Service at the Tri-Angle

Baptized Brianna Jaicee Shuey on May 31, 2009

Welcomes anyone who would like to stop in the office between the hours of 9: AM and l: 00 PM Tuesday thru Friday.

Attended a CHES Meeting

Served Communion to 11 Shut-Ins with the Steigerwalt’s assisting.

Is an active member of the church choir and will assist with Bible School
preparationIs offering an adult Bible Study the week of Bible School.

Received a request for the Baptism of Jonah William Hartman on July 26, 2009

Performed a burial on June 5, 2009.

Let her know if there is a favorite Hymn you would like sung during one of the summer Worship Services.

There will be a Children’s Chat each Worship Service during the summer months.

Will be on vacation August 7 thru the 17th, 2009.


MINUTES
of May 21, 2009 were approved as presented with minor corrections.


FINANCIAL REPORT
Received Yr. to Date Balance Sheet, Financial Report, YTD Budget vs. Actual, Profit and Loss, Budget vs. Actual Reports for May. Reports were
reviewed and filed for Audit.


MINISTRY REPORTS:

Worship and Music -

Choir is on vacation July and August.

Christian Education -

No Sunday school until September 13th

VBS will run from July 13 – 17 with a light lunch for the participants at 5:30P.M.
Register with Debbie Snyder.

Pastor Joyce will lead a Bible Study that week. If interested call her to register.

Youth Ministry -

The Banner is completed and is hung in the Sanctuary.

Some consideration is being given for our Youth Group to join with the Catasauqua Youth Group.

Presbyterian Women -

The Churchwide Gathering in Louisville, Ky. is July 11-15, 2009.

The Lehigh Presbytery PW will meet on August 21, 2009 in the Presbytery Center
.

Deacons -

No report.

Turning Point -

Keep saving those old cell phones and ink cartridges.

Nursery School -

The suggestion was made to purchase insulated drapes for class room #1. No
action was taken at this time.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Communication -

Tammy has updated the Web Site and will contact the newspapers with our
summer worship times.

Fellowship and Group Life -

The committee is planning a dinner in the fall.

Personnel -

Received a letter of resignation from Elder Richard Haberern.

Nominating -

Is searching for an Elder to replace Richard Haberern in the class of 2011.

Property -

The roof project is paid in full.

Inquiries are being made for quotes to repair the Pulpit Chairs in the Social Room.

An agreement of repayment for the broken window has been made and the window will be repaired as soon as possible.

The wall in the front stairwell needs to be plastered.

Discussed the possibility of replacing the sign out front.

A workday needs to be scheduled to clean up the church grounds.

Gifts of the Heart -

Peacemaking Offering will be received in October.

It was suggested we have a fund raiser for new bathrooms.

No report.

The next meeting – August 20, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. .

No further business the meeting was adjourned with a Litany led by Pastor Joyce followed with prayer at 9:30 P.M.
