Session Minute Hi-Lites
September 20, 2007 meeting

The Session met on September 20, 2007 with ten members present, our Commissioned Interim Lay Pastor, Henry Distler. The Meeting was called to order by Commissioned Interim Lay Pastor, Henry Distler at 7:05 P.M. with devotions taken from I Thessalonians 3: 6-13 followed with prayer.

Correspondence -:

Outgoing - None

Incoming.. -

Received a Certificate of Transfer from Allentown First informing us that she was received by their congregation on May 29, 2007.
Letter from Lehigh Presbyteries Teaching Presbyter, The Rev. Steven Shusett, thanking us for the great reception he received when he visited our worship service.
A letter from Lehigh Presbytery requesting that we consider increasing our Mission Pledge for 2008.
Received a letter from Meals on Wheels informing us that they could use 10 more volunteers.
Received E-Mail from Lehigh Presbytery reminding the Pastor and Commissioners to attend the Stated Meeting at first Presbyterian Reading on Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Joyce Wheeler, Barbara Quigg and Henry Distler will attend.

CLERK'S REPORT:

Received a request from the Chime Choir for a second microphone in the Williams Rooms when they are scheduled to play for worship..
Henry will be attending a Training Seminar at Mensch Mills September 23-24th.
The Michael's requested the use of the Social Room and Kitchen for October 7th to celebrate their grandson's first birthday.
October 18 is a joint Session/Deacons Meeting.

PASTOR'S REPORT:

CHES UPDATES

Sept. 11 Pastors of CHES met. Choir and Pastor change Pulpit with Slatington
Oct. 21 Elder Gathering at Catasauqua 5 P.M. 2008
Jan. 6 Pulpit exchange

Don't forget to complete and turn in those evaluation forms you might find in your Sunday Bulletin.

The Distler's requested permission to baptize their grandson and to use of our big Sunday school room on October 28th for a small reception after the baptism of their grandson, Brady Michael.

WORSHIP

August 5 communions including Shut-Ins
Sept. 2 served communion to shut-Ins
Oct. 7 Worldwide Communion/Peacemaking Offering
Oct. 21 Pastor Distler will be at Westminster for their 2:30 P.M. Worship Service also the CHES meeting at Catasauqua.
Nov. 12-16 Henry will attend Interim Ministry Week No. 1 in Richmond, Va.
Nov. 18 The Rev. John Stoner will fill our pulpit.
Worship committee prepared a schedule for communion servers.

MINUTES of June 21, 2007 were received as written with a few minor changes.

FINANCIAL REPORT was received and reviewed. Then filed for Audit.

MEMBERSHIP: No report.

MINISTRY REPORTS

Worship and Music - The senior choir is in need of some more MEN! Both the Senior and Chime Choirs are back with lots of music to share during regular and special worship services.

YOUTH Ministry $81 was received for the crop walk so far. They will have a Halloween Party

Christian Education - We are happy to report we have already increased the Sunday school attendance with 2 new students. Since September we are receiving one or two more each Sunday. On the 3rd Sunday of October the children will sing during morning worship and Eileen Tremblay will do a Children's chat. Parents please note that on the last Sunday of October we would like your family to join us for a day at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

Confirmation

At present we have 7 confirmands

Presbyterian Women -

We wish to thank all those who helped to make our Ice Cream/Basket Social such a success.. The Fall Gathering for Presbyterian Women will be held at Mt.Bethel/Portland on October the 19th at 9:00 A.M. Our Teaching Presbyter, The Rev. Steve Schusett will be the main speaker.

Deacons -

An ornamental Weeping Willow Tree has been purchased and will be planted in the front garden along with two angel figurines in memory of David Hause III... Two books written by The Rev. Dennis Zimmerman will be purchased for the Parish Nurse Library.

Turning Point -

Received a Thank You for our support in collecting used cell phones..

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Communication - Tammy Seidick keeps the newspapers updated on our time changes and activity advertisements..

Fellowship/Group Life - Thanks to all who made a nice turnout for the Sunday morning breakfast Plans are being made for upcoming events such as a dinner, game nights and an Ephiany Dinner in January 2008..

Personnel - Requested, Kathy, the church secretary to make a wish list for items that she needs to help make her job a little easier and some of the wishes have already been filled.... Better phone system, fax hookup and a new chair...

Nominating - Congregational meeting is being called to elect two members at large to serve on the committee...

Property - The basement has been painted and new carpeting will be installed on October 1st... Faucets in the Utility Closet and the Kitchen will be replaced There is a big ground hog hole in the front of the church and will be taken care of immediately.

Gifts of the Heart - October's mission project will be Blanket Sunday more information will be in the bulletin s...

Pastoral Nominating Committee - The C.I.F. held a meeting on September 11th and reported that resumes are beginning to arrive and will be reviewed. The next meeting October 2nd.

Old Business

At our next meeting we will discuss when to have two speakers during worship from the Allentown Rescue Mission.

New Business

Military Affairs Council our basket bingo recipients will visit our church during worship on a Sunday prior to the bingo party. November 4 is communion and November 11 we will have the Blue Grass Music in our morning worship.

The next meeting of Session will be on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 7:00 P.M.

The meeting was closed in prayer by The Henry Distler at 9:00 P.M.
